Kelly McHugh-Stewart is a writer, editor, public speaker, and marketing strategist based out of New York City.
Her reporting and personal essays have appeared in the New York Times, The Washington Post, Reader’s Digest, CNN Opinion and Sports Illustrated, among others. Along with her writing, she has a background in marketing where she’s overseen content strategy and development and managed social media channels for universities, nonprofits, and both collegiate and professional athletic organizations.
Kelly received her MFA in Creative Writing from The New School and holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from Kansas State University. She sits on the Board of Directors for Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, a nonprofit created in memory of her father, US Army COL John McHugh, who was killed in Afghanistan on May 18, 2010. Her memoir, which follows her journey to make sense of her father’s death and the military world in which she grew up, is forthcoming.
